About Me

Hi, I’m Sheneka.

Compassionate, down to earth and supportive psychotherapy with space for both understanding and thoughtful challenge.

A space to feel seen and understood.

I truly believe in the importance of having someone to turn to when life feels difficult, overwhelming or simply too heavy to navigate alone.

For many people, therapy may be one of the few spaces where they can speak openly without worrying about judgment, expectations or having to take care of everyone else. I want my clients to feel comfortable, seen and understood, while having the space to explore their experiences and develop a deeper understanding of themselves.

My approach is compassionate, down to earth and supportive. I will meet you where you are, but I also believe that support can include being thoughtfully challenged. At times, that may mean exploring patterns, considering a different perspective or asking questions that encourage greater awareness.

The goal is not for me to tell you who you should become, but to support you in understanding yourself more fully and moving forward in ways that feel meaningful to you.

My Professional Background

My perspective as a psychotherapist has been shaped by years of working across the social services and mental health sectors.

My professional experience has included work within youth justice, services supporting women, marginalized communities, housing and homelessness, and organizational leadership. Throughout these roles, I have worked alongside people navigating complex circumstances, trauma, major life transitions and systems that can sometimes leave individuals feeling unseen or unheard.

My leadership experience has also given me an understanding of responsibility, burnout and the pressure that can come with being the person others depend on. Someone can appear highly capable on the outside while carrying a great deal privately.

These experiences continue to shape the way I approach psychotherapy: with curiosity, compassion, respect and an understanding that there is always more to a person's story than what we see on the surface.

Who I Hope to Reach

EmberRise Psychotherapy was created for people who may have spent a long time feeling as though they have nowhere to turn.

You may be carrying responsibilities that few people recognize. You may feel misunderstood or judged when you try to explain what you're experiencing. You may have become so accustomed to being strong for everyone else that you aren't quite sure where you fit anymore.

You don't need to arrive at therapy knowing exactly what is wrong or what needs to change.

Awareness is the beginning.

Together, we can create space to understand what you've been carrying, recognize the experiences and patterns that have shaped you, and consider what you want moving forward.

Awareness. Transformation. New Beginnings.

At EmberRise Psychotherapy, I believe meaningful change begins with understanding. Therapy can create space to see yourself differently, become more aware of your patterns and needs, and make intentional choices about what comes next.

Understand. Transform. Rise.
